Nixu Adds Vendor Agnostic Fusion Layer Into Elastic Data Center
Nixu Software announced July 02, 2014 its new multivendor product strategy designed for elastic data centers. The new strategy is based on a software-defined architecture that merges popular data center technologies from Cisco, IBM, Microsoft and VMware under a shared IP Address Management (IPAM) system.
Already implemented by one of the IT industry bellwethers in its showcase data center, Nixu’s technology arms data centers with a network management and provisioning layer that allows both private and public data centers to plug in multiple orchestrators used in connection with cloud, network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN).

“Our revised product strategy is based on the notion that the world is not black and white,” said Juha Holkkola, managing director of Nixu Software. “It’s impossible for the average data center to forklift everything they have and embrace completely new technologies overnight. Our overlay solution provides data centers with the flexibility to manage existing networks and simultaneously provision prefixes, IP addresses, names and other network parameters to any number of new orchestrated workflows,” he added.
In its latest DDI Market Guide, Gartner, Inc. highlighted Nixu Software’s strengths in supporting virtualization, automation and self-service initiatives, recommending Nixu to cloud and managed service providers.
“Ultimately, pretty much everything that can be automated will be,” added Holkkola. “This calls for new automation layers used to provision applications and networks. We are already seeing traction in automation initiatives like Machine-to-Machine and Microsoft Office 365 cloud that push provisioning beyond traditional data center stacks.
