Enabling Real-Time Network Burst in hybrid IT: FusionLayer Revolutionizes Hybrid Network Management

Helsinki, Finland, April 26, 2017 ⎯ FusionLayer unveiled a new version of FusionLayer Infinity that revolutionizes networking for enterprises with a Hybrid Information Technology (Hybrid IT) strategy. The latest iteration of FusionLayer’s Hybrid Network Management solution enables real-time management of network assignments in multivendor Hybrid IT environments that span across public clouds and private enterprise data centers.
Leading industry analysts such as Gartner have suggested that Hybrid IT will become the most common cloud usage by 2020. This is expected to cut down the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) incurred by businesses as the Hybrid IT model allows companies to pay only for the computing capacity that they use. Another prediction from IDC is that 80% of IT organizations will be committed to hybrid architectures by 2018. These developments are expected to accelerate the enterprise IT transformation during the next 2-3 years.
Originally introduced in 2013, the adoption of Hybrid IT strategies was slow to pick up due to information security concerns. These concerns have now been alleviated as many public cloud providers such as AWS and Microsoft Azure have added Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) into their service portfolios. The VPC technology allows enterprises to securely extend their networks into public clouds without exposing their applications to the public internet.

Most enterprises working on Hybrid IT strategies continue to manage their enterprise network assignments with spreadsheets. These manual management processes increase the risk of overlapping networks, which can lead to service downtime and slow down the onboarding process when activating new network segments or customer services. The virtual appliances offered by industry incumbents such as Infoblox also seem to fall short, typically requiring a costly onboarding process that can take weeks to carry out.
The latest version of FusionLayer Infinity eliminates those issues by centralizing the management of all enterprise networks. By utilizing the built-in networking capabilities of public clouds such as AWS, Infinity allows new networks to be activated and deactivated in seconds via its API in both single and multitenant use cases. Additionally, Infinity provides clients with audit trails and real-time visibility into the networks activated in public clouds in compliance with common security and operational methodologies.
“Industry front runners such as Cisco, Red Hat, and VMware now support automated application deployment in Hybrid IT,” continued Teemu Sorvisto. “However, they are designed specifically for onboarding application workloads and are unfortunately not well suited for managing the underlying hybrid networks.
