FusionLayer Reaches Infinity: Setting the New Scalability Benchmark for IPAM Solutions

Monday June 15, 2015

ESPOO, Finland, June 15, 2015, ⎯ FusionLayer, Inc. today announced the availability of FusionLayer Infinity unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in March 2015. Introducing an all-new software-defined architecture for IP Address Management (IPAM) sets the new benchmark for IPAM solutions in scalability and simplified user experience (UX).

“The new FusionLayer Infinity scales to several million IPAM objects when run as a virtual machine on an entry-level server. The competing IPAM solutions are typically able to do just one-tenth of that, even when using accelerated hardware,” said Juha Holkkola, Chief Executive at FusionLayer. “When you run Infinity on comparably specified computing environments, our scalability is in the x10 – x25 range,” he added.

Another key principle guiding the design of FusionLayer Infinity has been the ease of integration with various third-party technologies. With a completely new architecture that has been redesigned from the ground up, FusionLayer Infinity has been engineered to facilitate an out-of-the-box integration with Cloud and workload orchestrators, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) orchestrators, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controllers, DHCP servers used in connection with physical devices, Authoritative DNS platforms for automated change provisioning, Centralized AAA mechanisms, and Existing Operation Support Systems (OSS).

To leverage its new versatile core architecture strengths, FusionLayer has engaged with leading cloud orchestrators, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technology providers to create ready-made plug-ins and shared solution blueprints. Based on its agnostic product philosophy, this collaboration aims to create a set of Best Practices for leveraging software-defined IPAM in connection with the cloud and the New IP.

“Based on our technology vision, most resources available in the next-generation data centers and elastic network fabrics will be built and deployed automatically. This results in several different orchestrators and controllers that deploy various resources inside the same networks,” continued Holkkola. “To make this vision a reality, the next-generation OSI stack requires an extra layer – the FusionLayer – enabling the network-level interoperability between the various automated workflows.”
